Block Print

Every culture used to have this technique in their textile bag-of-tricks. Some countries such as India still use it to great effect. Each block print is individually crafted and used to "stamp" cloth with paint or ink. Adults and kids alike enjoy wearing clothing designed and produced by their own hand. That's what folk art is all about.

Block printing, an age-old technique, takes a modern twist in this class! Learn how to design and craft blocks which you will use for printing your own T-shirt.  Or, if you chose, you can use blocks from the instructor's "Block Library" some of which are antique blocks from India and Bavaria. All materials are provided, except for 1 or 2 T-shirts (or other article of clothing; I had a student bring pantyhose once. Those turned out cool!) which you bring to class.
